What exactly is resurfacing?

A.

Resurfacing is the process of applying a new coating to countertops, tubs, showers, tile, and cabinets. As an alternative to conventional remodeling, it extends the life of the surface by many years.

Q.

How long does it take to resurface?

A.

It typically takes four to six hours to resurface most items in your house. For larger kitchens or multiple bathrooms, the process might take more than one day. Because our coating takes 24 hours to cure, we recommend resurfacing one bathroom per day.

Q.

How long do I need to wait before I use my surface again?

A.

Your surface will be ready to use 24 hours after the new coating is applied. Be sure to follow our Care & Maintenance recommendations.

How long does your resurfacing last?

A.

With proper care, your resurfacing should last for many years. For more information, see our Care, Maintenance & Warranty recommendations.

Q.

Is there an odor?

A.

Our resurfacing does have a strong smell; however, it is not toxic and dissipates within a few hours. Our technicians always bring exhaust fans with them to job sites. Because of our coating’s smell, we typically resurface occupied units and residential homes in the morning so that the smell has adequate time to dissipate.

What if I just want to update my countertop color?

A.

Not a problem. Our proprietary OTTESEY® spray system allows us to create unique colors and textures. With Get A Grip’s Eurostone® color options, we give your countertop surfaces the look and feel of granite.

What if I have a crack or chip in my tub and don’t need a full resurfacing?

A.

Get A Grip® is one of the few certified Kohler© Authorized Service Representatives, and our partnership with both Kohler© and American Standard™ offers you the best services possible! We routinely repair and restore cracks, chips, and dents in porcelain, fiberglass, Vikrell® tubs, and shower pans. We are the crack and chip repair experts!

How do I prepare my surfaces for resurfacing?

A.

Please remove all items from the work area (i.e., clocks, hanging plants, decorative items, microwaves, coffee makers, shower curtains, bath rugs, etc.). Don’t forget about any items on top of your cabinets! Our technicians will not touch any personal items, and if your surfaces are not clear, we will ask you to either remove your items or reschedule your work.

Make sure to disconnect any water or gas lines from your refrigerator and/or oven. Please move these items at least three feet from your countertops. If your refrigerator and/or stove cannot be moved, we will not be able to resurface the end caps on your countertops.

I would like something slip-resistant to put on the bottom of my tub. Do you offer this service?

A.

Yes! Grip-Guard™ is a slip-resistant coating we can apply to the bottom of your tub or shower.
